Description

The project was developed by Energia del Pacifico Ltda de CV. Invenergy Clean Power El Salvador Ltda de CV and Quantum Energy are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 85% and 15% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Internal Combustion Plant (CCICP) power plant. The fuel is procured from Shell plc.

The Gas fired project consists of 1 steam turbine with 28MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in May 2022.

Power purchase agreement

AES Clesa y Compania SC de CV, B&D, Compania de Alumbrado Electrico de San Salvador, Distribuidora Electrica de Usulutan, Empresa Distribuidora Electrica Salvadorena, Empresa Electrica de Oriente and Empresas Publicas De Medellin are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors involved

Wartsila was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

Wartsila was selected as the engine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 19 units of 18V50SG engines, each with 18.9MW nameplate capacity.

Wartsila is the O&M contractor for thermal power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2022, for a period of 15 years.
