Description
The project was developed by Dhafrah PV2 Energy. Abu Dhabi National Energy, Abu Dhabi Future Energy, EDF Renewables and Jinko Power Technology are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 20%, 20% and 20% respectively.
Al Dhafra Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 21.18 km².
The project generates 4,700GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 200,000 households, offsetting 2,400,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
Development status
The project construction commenced in 2021 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in February 2023.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Emirates Water and Electricity under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.013kWh for a period of 30 years, starting from 2023. The contracted capacity is 1,500MW.
Contractors involved
China Machinery Engineering was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
The solar PV modules for the project were supplied by Jinko Solar, Trina Solar and Wuxi Suntech Power.
Sungrow Power Supply supplied 8,000 of its SG250HX inverters to the project site.
The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by Arctech Solar Holding.
China Machinery Engineering is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project for a period of 2 years.
