The project was developed by Central Electricity Generating and is currently owned by Acwa Power with a stake of 40.93%.
It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Heavy Fuel Oil and Light Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Imported gas from Egypt.
The project generated 1,963,421MWh of electricity.
