Aries Solar Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 30 hectares.

The project generates 22,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 4,900 households, offsetting 6,160t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $38.815m.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years, starting from 2014.

juwi Solar was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

BYD was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 45,000 modules each with 250W of nameplate capacity.

SMA Solar Technology supplied 16 of its SC630CP inverters to the project site.

The project is utilising trackers supplied by Schletter.

BioTherm Energy, Globeleq South Africa Management Services and juwi were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
