Description
The project is being developed by PT Adhi Karya (Persero) and Shimizu. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.
Asahan 3 is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project will be 192.9m and 177.8m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 5 in number. The penstock length will be 337m. The penstock diameter will be 5.3m. The project is expected to generate 1,477 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2019. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.
