Description
The project is being developed by Mahanadi Basin Power and is currently owned by Mahanadi Coalfields with a stake of 100%.
It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be coal. In case of shortage of coal the plant will run on Light Diesel Oil / Heavy Furnance Oil. The fuel will be procured from Basundhara Coalfields.
The Coal fired project consists of 2 steam turbines, each with 800MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2028.
Power purchase agreement
Government of Odisha and Mahanadi Coalfields are expected to be the power offtakers from the project.
