Description
The project was developed by Sturdee Energy, SunEdison and TerraForm Global. Globeleq South Africa Management Services and Public Investment are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51% and 19% respectively.
Boshoff Solar Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 160 hectares.
The project generates 132,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 30,000 households, offsetting 36,960t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The project consists of 218,000 modules.
Development status
The project got commissioned in October 2014.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2014. The contracted capacity is 66MW.
Contractors involved
Basil Read and Isolux Ingenieria were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by SunEdison.
Globeleq South Africa Management Services is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project, commencing from the year 2019.
