Description
Bruce 6 is a Generation II nuclear reactor being developed by Atomic Energy of Canada, Hatch and Ontario Power Generation, are the main contractors for the project.
The 891MW reactor is currently owned by Ontario Power Generation (100%) and will be operated by Bruce Power.
Bruce 6 is a type of PHWR reactor. It will feature 6,240 fuel assemblies in the core of reactor, the place where fission occurs and energy is released. Safety contol rods that are used to control the fission rate in the reactor will be 32 in number.
Development status
The reactor construction is expected to commence from Jan, 1978. Subsequent to that it will enter commercial operation by Sep, 1984.
