Description

The project was developed by Acciona Energia. Acciona Energia Internacional and Grupo Ecoenergia V.L are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 65% and 35% respectively.

The project generates 200,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 80,000 households, offsetting 192,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $125m.

Development status

The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in July 2014.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Contractors involved

Nordex was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 33 units of AW-77/1500 turbines, each with 1.5MW nameplate capacity.
