Description

The project is expected to generate 141,700MWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 100,000 households. The project is expected to offset 166,498t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in June 2010.
Power purchase agreement
Eskom Holdings SOC and Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality are expected to be the power offtakers from the project.
Contractors involved
Coega IDZ Wind Farm (Coega IDZ Wind Farm – Phase I) will be equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V90-1.8 MW turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 1.8MW nameplate capacity.
Coega IDZ Wind Farm (Coega IDZ Wind Farm – Phase II) will be equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-3.0-101 DD turbines. The phase consists of 24 turbines with 3MW nameplate capacity.
