The project is being developed by BioTherm Energy, Group Five, Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion SAU, Klipheuwel-Dassiefontein Wind Energy Facility (RF) and Sinovel Wind Group. BioTherm Energy, Globeleq South Africa Management Services, Others and TerraForm Global are currently owning the project.

Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility II) consists of 7 turbines.

The Tubular Steel structure to be installed at the Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility I), site are expected to be 90m high.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in May 2014.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility I) will be sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years, starting from 2014.

Contractors involved

Group Five, Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion SAU and Sinovel Wind Group are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility I).

Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility I) will be equipped with Sinovel Wind Group SL3000/113 turbines. The phase consists of 9 turbines with 3MW nameplate capacity.

BioTherm Operations and Maintenance is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility (Dassiesklip Wind Energy Facility I). The operation and maintenance contract tenure will likely be commencing from 2014, for a period of 5 years.
