Description

The project was developed by China Longyuan Power Group and Mulilo Renewable Energy. Others and DLO Energy Resources are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70% and 30% respectively.

The project generates 644,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 85,000 households, offsetting 620,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The De Aar Wind Farm (De Aar Phase II), has 80m high towers.

The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in November 2017.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Longyuan Engineering South Africa was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

De Aar Wind Farm (De Aar Phase I) is equipped with Guodian United Power Technology UP86/1500 turbines. The phase consists of 67 turbines with 1.5MW nameplate capacity.

De Aar Wind Farm (De Aar Phase II) is equipped with Guodian United Power Technology turbines. The phase consists of 96 turbines, each with 1.5MW nameplate capacity.
