Description

The project is currently owned by Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait with a stake of 100%.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant that is used for Baseload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is heavy fuel oil. In case of shortage of heavy fuel oil the plant can also run on Natural Gas. The fuel is procured from Mina Al Ahmedi refinery.

Development status

The project got commissioned in June 1982.

DL Holdings, Hyundai Engineering and Tractebel Engineering were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the oil fired power project.

Mitsubishi Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Oil fired project. The company supplied Tandem compound, condensing type model turbines for the project.
