Description
The project was developed by Samsung Renewable Energy. Connor Clark & Lunn Infrastructure, Samsung Renewable Energy and Six Nations of the Grand River Development are currently owning the project.
Grand Renewable Energy Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 325 hectares.
The project generates 170,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 17,000 households, offsetting 162,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
Development status
The project construction commenced in 2012 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in March 2015.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Ontario Power Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 100MW.
Contractors involved
Canadian Solar Solutions was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
Canadian Solar was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company installed 445,000 modules at the site.
SMA Solar Technology supplied 130 of its Sunny Central 800CP-US inverters to the project site.
SMA Canada is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
