Description

The project was developed by Hongsa Power. Banpu Power, RATCH Group and Lao Holding State Enterprise are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 40% and 20% respectively.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is lignite. In case of shortage of lignite the plant can also run on Diesel. The fuel is procured from Hongsa Mine.

Development status

The project got commissioned in June 2015.

Electricite du Laos and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors involved

China National Electric Engineering was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the coal fired power project.
