Description
The project was developed by Itezhi Tezhi Power. The project is co-owned by The Tata Power and ZESCO, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.
The hydro reservoir capacity is 6,000 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 40m. The project generated 611 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $244m.

The project construction commenced in 2011 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2016.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to ZESCO under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years. The contracted capacity is 120MW.
Contractors involved
Sinohydro was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of kaplan turbines, each with 60MW nameplate capacity.
GE Renewable Energy supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
