Description

The project is currently owned by NTPC with a stake of 100%.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant that is used for Baseload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is coal. In case of shortage of coal the plant can also run on Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Kusmundha Block, Gevra Mines.

The project generated 20,061,000MWh of electricity.

The thermal power project consists of 3 turbines each with 200 MW nameplate capacity and 4 turbines each with 500 MW nameplate capacity respectively.

The project got commissioned in August 1983.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the Korba Super Thermal Power Station (Korba Super Thermal Power Station Stage III) is sold to Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution under a power purchase agreement.
