Description

The project is being developed by Maithon Power. Tata Power and Damodar Valley are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 74% and 26% respectively.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be coal. In case of shortage of coal the plant will run on Fuel Oil.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in September 2011.

Power purchase agreement

Damodar Valley, Kerala State Electricity Board, Punjab State Power, Tata Power Delhi Distribution and West Bengal State Electricity Distribution are expected to be the power offtakers from the project.

Maithon Right Bank Thermal Power Project (Maithon Right Bank Thermal Power Project Phase I Unit I) will be equipped with Bharat Heavy Electricals steam turbines.
