Malutang II is a 300MW hydro power project. It is located on Panlong river/basin in Yunnan, China. The project was developed by Datang Yunnan Wenshan Hydropower Development. Datang International Power Generation, Yunnan Wenshan Electric Power and Hydro China Kunming Engineering Corporation are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60%, 25% and 15% respectively.
Malutang II is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 546 million cubic meter. The project generated 1,363.8 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $291m.
The project construction commenced in 2005 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2009.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to China Southern Power Grid under a power purchase agreement.
Chongqing Water Turbine Works was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of francis turbines, each with 100MW nameplate capacity.
Chongqing Water Turbine Works supplied electric generator(s) for the project. The generator capacity is 114.28 MVA.
