Melka Wakena is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 763 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 300m and 297m respectively. The penstock length is 535m. The penstock diameter is 4.2m. Melka Wakena underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during September 2004-February 2006.
