Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by ALLETE, Basin Electric Power Coop and Dairyland Power Cooperative. The company's ownership stake in the project stands as 50%, 30% and 20% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that will be used for Peakload. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Oil.

The Gas fired project consists of 1 steam turbine.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Minnesota Power under a power purchase agreement. The offtake capacity is expected to be 312.5MW.

Contractors involved

Siemens Energy will be the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company is expected to provide 1 unit of SGT6 -8000H gas turbine.
