The project is currently owned by Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Niksic.

Piva is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 880 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 160m and 99.99m respectively. Piva (Piva A1 ) underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2018-2019.Piva (Piva A2) underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during April 2019-2020.Piva (Piva A3) underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2020-2021. The project generated 860 GWh of electricity.

Litostroj Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The project consists of 3 units of Francis turbines, each with 114MW nameplate capacity.
