Description
The project is being developed by Biffa, PowerHouse Energy Group and Reworld Holding. Green Investment Group, Reworld Holding and Biffa are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 37.5%, 37.5% and 25% respectively.
The project is expected to supply enough clean energy to power 90,000 households.
The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Industrial waste, municipal solid waste and wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2020. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to SmartestEnergy under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 49MW.
Contractors involved
Mytilineos and Standardkessel Baumgarte Holding are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
