Description

The project was developed by Al-Mourjan for Electricity Production. The project is co-owned by Acwa Power and Saudi Electricity, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Arabian Super Light.

Development status

The project got commissioned in February 2018.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 2,059.5MW.

Samsung C&T was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 6 units of SGT6-5000F gas turbines.
