About Sasan Power

Sasan Power Limited (Sasan Power)is principally engaged in building, owning, operating and maintaining the Sasan Ultra Megawatt Power Project (UMPP) at Sasan, Madhya Pradesh. Sasan UMPP is an integrated pit head coal based power project. Sasan Power would have a total capacity of 3,960 MW in Sasan, Madhya Pradesh from three captive pithead coal mines. The coal-fired project would consist of six generating units, each of 660 MW capacity and employ supercritical technology. The Sasan project is scheduled to be completed by December 2013, when the first 660 MW unit comes on-line. The project is scheduled to be fully completed by 2016. The estimated cost of the Sasan project is INR 18,34.2 billion. Furthermore, the company has also entered into Power Purchase Agreement with 14 procurers comprising seven States. Of this Madhya Pradesh will be entitled for 37.50% share, followed by Punjab(15%), Uttar Pradesh(12.5%), Delhi(11.25%), Haryana(11.25%), Rajasthan(10%) and Uttarakand (2.5%). Sasan Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power. The company is headquartered in Madhya Pradesh, India.
