Description
The project was developed by Emirates Waste to Energy. The project is co-owned by Abu Dhabi Future Energy and Bee'ah, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 28,000 households, offsetting 450,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Household waste which is a kind of municipal solid waste is used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
The project got commissioned in May 2022.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority under a power purchase agreement.

Constructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
