Description
The project was developed by Acciona Energy South Africa and Aveng. Acciona Energia and Royal Bafokeng Holdings Pty are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 54.9% and 25.1% respectively.
Sishen Solar Facility is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 250 hectares.
The project generates 216GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 100,000 households, offsetting 208,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
Development status
The project got commissioned in November 2014.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2014. The contracted capacity is 74MW.
Contractors involved
Acciona Energy South Africa and Aveng were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
JinkoSolar Holding was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 319,600 modules each with 295W of nameplate capacity.
Ingeteam Corporacion supplied 78 of its Ingecon Sun 1000TL M400 inverters to the project site.
The project is utilising horizontal single axis trackers supplied by STI Norland.
Acciona Energy South Africa is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
