Description

Sizewell C-1 is a Generation III+ nuclear reactor.

The 1,670MW reactor will be operated by NNB Generation. The project is co-owned by Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Electricite de France, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.

Sizewell C-1 is a type of PWR reactor. It will feature 241 fuel assemblies in the core of reactor, the place where fission occurs and energy is released. The project cost is expected to be around $10,500m.

The material used for the construction of the vessel will be 16MNDS.

Development status

Post completion of construction, the reactor is planned to get commission in 2031.
