Description

The project was developed by Songas. Globeleq Africa, Tanzania Petroleum Development and Tanzania Electric Supply are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 54.1%, 28.69% and 9.56% respectively.

It is a Gas Turbine power plant that is used for Baseload. The fuel is procured from Songo Songo Gas Field.

Development status

The project got commissioned in August 2004.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Tanzania Electric Supply under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.06kWh for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 178.114MW.
