Description

The project was developed by Electricite de France. The project is currently owned by China Southern Power Grid with a stake of 37% and China General Nuclear Power.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Heavy Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO).

The project generated 4,576,000MWh of electricity.

Development status

The project got commissioned in February 2003.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Egyptian Electricity Holding under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 2 units of Three Stages with Single Reheat steam turbines, each with 341.25MW nameplate capacity.
