Simran Wind Project Private Limited (Simran) is an Indian wind power generation company. It is a subsidiary of Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd. (TEECL), a leading EPC company based in Kolkata, India. TEECL currently holds 96.62% in Simran following the stake sale of 3.38% to International Finance Corporation (IFC), the investment arm of the World Bank. Simran is the first project developer under the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) scheme to cross the 100 MW mark. The company achieved the milestone recently with the accreditation of a 10.5 MW wind energy project in Tamil Nadu. Currently, the company has a total installed wind power generation capacity of 142.35 MW. Besides, the company has plans to expand its capacity by 100MW before December 2011. Simran is headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India. In September 2011, the company entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Company (TANGEDCO) for INR 2.37 per unit. The total 114 MW generation capacity is eligible under REC as per the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and is also eligible for Generation Based Incentives (GBI) benefit.
