Description

The project was developed by Teesta Urja. Government of Sikkim, Greenko Energies, PTC India and Athena Projects Private are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60.08%, 30.16%, 5.62% and 2.72% respectively.

Teesta III is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 5.08 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 817m and 778m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 3 in number. The penstock diameter is 3.8m. The project generated 5,214 GWh of electricity.

The project construction commenced in 2008 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2017.

Power purchase agreement

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam are the power offtakers from the project.

Contractors involved

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 6 units of pelton turbines, each with 200MW nameplate capacity.

Andritz Hydro supplied 6 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 36.67 MVA.

Andritz Hydro is the O&M contractor for the hydro power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2017, for a period of 5 years.
