The Wales Gas Fired Power Plant is 300MW gas fired power project. It is planned in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, Guyana. It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Natural Gas Liquids & Diesel.
The project cost is expected to be around $900m.
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in December 2024.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Guyana Power & Light under a power purchase agreement. The offtake capacity is expected to be 250MW.
