Description
The project was developed by Renewable Energy Systems Holdings and is currently owned by Wigton Windfarm with a stake of 100%.
The electricitiy generated from the plant has offsetted 562,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The Wigton (Wigton I), has 49m high towers.
The Wigton (Wigton II), has 67m high towers.

Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Jamaica Public Service under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 62.7MW.
Contractors involved
CJR Renewables SGPS and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.
Wigton (Wigton I) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems NM 54/950 turbines. The phase consists of 23 turbines with 0.9MW nameplate capacity.
Wigton (Wigton II) is equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V80-2.0 MW turbines. The phase consists of 9 turbines with 2MW nameplate capacity.
Wigton (Wigton III) is equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy G80-2.0 MW turbines. The phase consists of 12 turbines with 2MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the Wigton (Wigton III), commencing from the year 2016.
