Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by General Electricity Company Of Libya. The company has a stake of 100%.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that will be used for Baseload. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant will run on Diesel. The fuel will be procured from National Oil Corporation (NOC).

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in August 2012.

Contractors involved

Daewoo Engineering & Construction is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase II) project. Enka Teknik is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase I) project.

Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase I) will be equipped with Siemens Energy SGT5-PAC-4000F gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines with 285MW nameplate capacity.

Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase II) will be equipped with Fuji Electric steam turbine. The phase consists of 1 steam turbine with 250MW nameplate capacity.

Siemens Energy is expected to be the supplier of electric generator for the Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase I).

BHI is likely to be the supplier of steam boiler for the Zwitina Power Plant 2 (Zwitina Power Plant 2 Phase II).

General Electricity Company Of Libya is expected to perform operations and maintenance for thermal power project.
