Power plant tenders down 18% in September 2021

Power plant tenders in September 2021 saw 113 tenders announced, marking a drop of 18% over the last 12-month average of 137, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 94 tenders and an 83.2% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 15 tenders and a 13.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three tenders and a 2.7% share
  4. Others: one tender and a 0.9% share.

Asia-Pacific leads power plant activity in September 2021

Comparing tenders activity in power plant segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 44 tenders and a share of 38.9% during September 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 32 tenders and a 28.3% share and Europe with 23 tenders and a 20.4% share.

Solar is leading technology for power plant tenders in September 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 93 tenders with an 80.2% share, followed by hydro with eight tenders and a 6.9% share and thermal with five tenders and a 4.3% share.

Power plant tenders in September 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. NHPC (India): 1,045MW from two tenders
  2. Ministere de l’Energie (Algeria): 1,000MW from one tender
  3. Ministerio de Energia y Recursos Naturales No Renovables: 500MW capacity from one tender.
