Rengali is a 250MW hydro power project. It is located on Brahmani river/basin in Odisha, India. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1976 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1985.

Description

The project is currently owned by Odisha Hydro Power.

Rengali is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 4,400 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 40m. The penstock diameter is 6m. The project generated 813.58 GWh of electricity.

The project construction commenced in 1976 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1985.

Contractors Involved

Bharat Heavy Electricals was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 5 units of kaplan turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.

Bharat Heavy Electricals supplied 5 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 61.1 MVA.

Odisha Hydro Power is the O&M contractor for the hydro power project.
