It has been developed in multiple phases. The project construction commenced in 1959 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1963.

Contractors Involved

Rio Macho (Rio Macho – I) is equipped with Andritz Hydro pelton turbines. The phase consists of 2 turbines with 18MW nameplate capacity.

Rio Macho (Rio Macho – II) is equipped with Andritz Hydro pelton turbines. The phase consists of 2 turbines with 35MW nameplate capacity.

Rio Macho (Rio Macho – III) is equipped with Andritz Hydro pelton turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 35MW nameplate capacity.

The electric generators for the project were procured from Andritz Hydro and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
