The project is currently owned by Saudi Electricity.
It is a gas turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is crude oil. In case of shortage of crude oil the plant can also run on Natural Gas.

Arabian Bemco Contracting was selected to render EPC services for the oil fired power project.
GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for thermal power project. The project consists of 20 units of 7E.03 turbines, each with 55.5MW nameplate capacity.
GE Power supplied TEWAC-7A6 electric generator for the Riyadh PP9 Power Plant Block C & D (Riyadh PP9 Power Plant Block C).
