The project was developed by Eolia Renovables de Inversiones SCR and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The project is co-owned by EDF Renewables and MIT Renewables Mexico, S.A.P.I. de, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 97,155 households. The project cost is $383.64m.
The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in April 2014.

ArcelorMittal and Walmart de Mexico y Centroamerica are the power offtakers from the project.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected to render EPC services for the wind power project.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 80 turbines, each with 2MW nameplate capacity.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 15 years.
