The project was developed by Jaiprakash Associates and is currently owned by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam.

Sardar Sarovar – Canal Head Power House (CHPH) is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 5,859.03 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 36m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 5 in number. The penstock length is 70m. The penstock diameter is 6.7m. The project generated 5,469 GWh of electricity.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in 2004.
