The SECI-Leh Solar PV Project – Battery Energy Storage System is a 7,000kW energy storage project located in Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The rated storage capacity of the project is 21,000kWh.
The project was announced in 2019 and will be commissioned in 2021.
The key applications of the project are renewable energy integaration, electric energy time shift and demand response.
The project will be implemented by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) which will also act as a project management consultant for the entire project, including the process of finalization of detailed project report, selection of solar project developer, project management till project testing, commissioning, and execution of the project by the project developer. SECI will be responsible for the fund management, releasing of Viability Gap Funding and will also monitor the performances post commissioning of the projects.
