Shamkir is a 380MW hydro power project. It is located on Kura river/basin in Ganja-Gazakh, Azerbaijan. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in 1982.

Contractors Involved

Ukrainian Energy Machines was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of kaplan turbines, each with 195MW nameplate capacity.

NPO Elsib supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 224 MVA.
