The Shin-Gimje Substation KEPCO-BESS is owned by Korea Electric Power (100%).

The key applications of the project are frequency regulation, transmission congestion relief and voltage support.

Contractors involved

Kokam America and Korea Electric Power have delivered the battery energy storage project.

KEPCO installed 24 MW (9 MWh) of Li-ion battery based energy storage system for frequency regulation in 2015.
