Shinyanga – Singida Line is a 400kV overhead line with a length of 225km from Shinyanga, Shinyanga, Tanzania, to Singida, Singida, Tanzania.

Construction works on the Shinyanga – Singida Line started in 2015 and the project was commissioned in 2016.

Description

The Shinyanga – Singida Line, which is an overhead line, is being operated by Tanzania Electric Supply. The Shinyanga – Singida Line is a new line. The line carries alternating current (AC) through double circuit cable.

Approximately $88.88m was financed by the authorities to undertake the construction works of the project.

Shinyanga – Singida Line project development status

The development of the Shinyanga – Singida Line project was approved by Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority in 2015 and the project works were completed in 2016.

Tanzania Electric Supply Co Ltd (TANESCO), formerly Tanganyika Electric Supply Co Ltd, is a government owned integrated power company. The company’s operations are regulated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. It generates, transmits, distributes and supplies electricity. TANESCO generates the power through hydro and thermal power stations. TANESCO also procures electricity from independent power producers and EPPs.
