Smart grid tenders up 88% in February 2021

Smart grid tenders in February 2021 saw 32 tenders announced, marking a rise of 88% over the last 12-month average of 17, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 14 tenders and a 43.8% share
  2. Project Implementation: eight tenders and a 25% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and an 18.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 12.5% share.

North America leads smart grid activity in February 2021

Comparing tenders activity in smart grid segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 11 tenders and a share of 34.4% during February 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with nine tenders and a 28.1% share and Middle East and Africa with six tenders and an 18.8% share.

Solar is leading technology for smart grid tenders in February 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for four tenders with an 80% share, followed by wind with one tender and a 20% share.

Smart grid tenders in February 2021: Top issuer by capacity

The top issuer of smart grid tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development (Nepal) with 0.1MW from three tenders.
