Smart grid tenders up 11% in Q4 2020

Smart grid tenders in Q4 2020 saw 51 tenders announced, marking a rise of 11% over the last four-quarter average of 46, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 39 tenders and a 76.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine tenders and a 17.6% share
  3. Project Implementation: two tenders and a 3.9% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 2% share.

Europe leads smart grid activity in Q4 2020

Comparing tenders activity in smart grid segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 15 tenders and a share of 29.4% during Q4 2020, followed by North America with 15 tenders and a 29.4% share and Asia-Pacific with 14 tenders and a 27.5% share.

Solar is leading technology for smart grid tenders in Q4 2020

Among the technologies, solar accounted for two tenders with a 50% share, followed by thermal with one tender and a 25% share and hydro with one tender and a 25% share.
