Songo – Cataxa Line is a 400kV overhead line from Songo, Tete, Mozambique, to Cataxa, Tete, Mozambique.

The project, which is currently under construction, is expected to be commissioned in 2024.

Description

Songo – Cataxa Line is an overhead line that will be operated by Electricidade de Mocambique EP. The line will carry alternating current (AC) through double circuit cable.

Approximately $18.25m was financed by the authorities to undertake the construction works of the project.

The development of the Songo – Cataxa Line project has been approved by the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE).

About Electricidade de Mocambique EP

Electricidade de Mocambique EP (EDM) is a state owned vertically integrated energy utility that generates, distributes, transmits, and commercializes electricity. It produces electricity from hydro and thermal sources. The company has interests in the Lichinga, Cuamba, Corumana, Chicamba, and Mavuzi hydro power plants; and Termica de Temane, GTG Beira, GTG1 Maputo, GTG3 Maputo, and GTG2 Maputo thermal power plants.
