The project is a part Oakland Clean Energy Initiative(OCEI). The OCEI aims to replace the 40-year-old “Oakland Power Plant,” in Jack London Square with clean energy resources. EDP Renewables North America LLC, has secured a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), with East Bay Community Energy (“EBCE”), to sell 100 MW of solar energy and 30 MW of energy storage from the Sonrisa Solar Park. EDP Renewables North America LLC, also signed a 20-year PPA, with San Jose Clean Energy, to sell 100 MW of solar energy and 10 MW of energy storage from the Sonrisa Solar Park. The project, that will now total 200 MW of solar energy and 40 MW of energy storage.
