South and Central America power industry contracts in February 2020: Chile leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Chile led the activity in February 2020 with eight contracts and a share of 40%, up 23.3% over the previous month and up 167% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Brazil with three contracts and a share of 15% and Argentina with two contracts and a share of 10% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Brazil held the top spot with 12 contracts, followed by Argentina with four and Chile with three contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in February 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with ten contracts and a 45.5% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 31.8% share and thermal with four contracts and an 18.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in February 2020, with nine contracts, followed by Power Plant (8) and T&D Project (4).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: ten contracts and a 50% share
- Supply & Erection: six contracts and a 30% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: three contracts and a 15% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 5% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in South and Central America were:
- DISNORTE-DISSUR (United States): 300MW from one contract
- Electricity Generating Company Haina (Dominican Republic): 120MW from one contract
